Who We Are
Established in 2004, Natural Landscape Solutions is committed to providing high-quality natural landscaping, organic landcare, and carpentry services. Our focus on sustainability and natural practices sets us apart, catering to those who seek eco-friendly outdoor solutions.

Erik Bjørnsen has been in the industry for over 25 years and has experience in all aspects of landscape design, maintenance and building. Natural Landscape Solutions (NLS) was created and founded by Erik Bjornsen in 2004. The vision for creating landscapes that sustain themselves through time using quality craftsmanship and sustainable products is still as strong as ever. Erik comes from a background with a B.Sc. in Geography, Organic Land-care, Permaculture Design, Food-Forestry, Urban Homestead Design and Drafting and over 25 years of landscape construction. He has been involved in updating knowledge and education through various organizations. He has recently taken courses in; Green-roof design and construction, Rainwater harvesting as well as Solar installation, and is ready to meet our growing demands for these products and services. Using science as a background and his need for being creative he is able to blend form, function and beauty in order to meet the needs of his clients and their landscapes. Natural Landscape Solutions is ever changing and evolving to becoming more sustainable. Presently Erik is striving to reduce the company's carbon footprint by working with an organization called Climate Smart. By reducing company waste removed from sites, and reduction of fossil fuels consumed Natural Landscape Solutions will become a cleaner more responsible company. We have moved towards battery operated gardening tools, that are cleaner, more quiet and less maintenance. Previous and present commitments include: S.O.U.L (Society for Organic Urban Land-care), Parks Canada, Sooke Slow Food Cycle, Sooke Transition Town and Tsartlip First Nations workshops in gardening and composting. 'Earth Care - People Care' is something true to the values of Natural Landscape Solutions. We care about people and the environment and believe that by making people more aware of their surroundings they become more responsible for taking care of what's around them.
Chandra Bjørnsen has been behind the scenes since the business inception. Making sure Erik is on top of his office work! Chandra came back out into the field in 2018 and has been helping and providing her experience and expertise in the garden maintenance side of things. She is a herbalist and is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to medicinal plants, cultivation and best use applications. She makes work fun and entertaining in all aspects and is a joy to be around.

My husband and I have had Natural Landscape Solutions do some maintenance of our property
in Colwood for several years. Erik and along with his wife have been so easy and pleasant to
deal with. Erik’s knowledge of plants etc has enhanced the look of our yard with his help and
advice. Erik also built a very nice fence along one side and many neighbours have commented

He and his partner Chandra listened to me and were helpful in recommending indigenous plants for my gardens. I appreciate that they also love to bring in plants that welcome pollinators, I have learned a lot over the years from them.
As a result of having such attentive care and maintenance my yard has an abundance and variety of birds, bees and butterflies.
